Julie E. Nugent, Esq.
JULIE E. NUGENT, ESQ. is an associate with the firm licensed to practice in New Jersey, Pennsylvania and the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey. Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Nugent served as judicial law clerk to the Honorable Nelson C. Johnson, J.S.C. in the Superior Court of New Jersey, Atlantic County, Law Division.
Ms. Nugent graduated from Boston University School of Management with a B.S. in business administration, business law, and finance. While in college, Ms. Nugent served as a volunteer at the Boston Marathon, was a student-organizer for Relay for Life, and volunteered at the local animal shelter.
Immediately after college, Ms. Nugent attended Widener University School of Law on a full academic merit scholarship. While in law school, Ms. Nugent served as the Bluebook Editor of The Widener Law Review and participated in Widener’s Intensive Trial Advocacy Program. She also participated in Widener’s Environmental & Natural Resources Law Clinic, advocating on behalf of not-for-profit organizations and individuals seeking to protect the local environment, and was a contributor to The New Jersey Environmental Law Handbook (8th Ed.).
In May 2013, Ms. Nugent received her Juris Doctor with Honors and a Certificate in Environmental Law. She also received the GreenWatch Institute Scholarship Award in Memory of Jerry Shields, which is awarded annually to a student based on the student’s outstanding performance in the law school’s clinic and a commitment to public interest advocacy.
Ms. Nugent is currently a Trustee of the Atlantic County Bar Association (“ACBA”) and serves as Chair of the ACBA Young Lawyers Division. Within the ACBA, Ms. Nugent also serves on the Golf Tournament Committee, and for the past 3 years she has volunteered as Bailiff for the annual Atlantic County High School Mock Trial Competition. Through her involvement with the ACBA and Young Lawyers Division, Ms. Nugent has also helped plan, organize and sponsor numerous community outreach programs that benefit underprivileged students and families in Atlantic County. Additionally, Ms. Nugent sits on the Gilda’s Club South Jersey Events Committee, helping to raise funds for patients and families whose lives have been impacted by cancer, as well as the Our Lady Star of the Sea Regional School Advisory Board.
In addition to the ACBA, Ms. Nugent’s other professional associations include The Vincent S. Haneman American Inn of Court, in which she serves on the Programming Committee; New Jersey Association for Justice; American Association of Justice; New Jersey State Bar Association; Pennsylvania State Bar Association; and American Bar Association.
